Like Eve who was created from Adams rib, Château Branaire was created with a few hectares of Beychevelle vineyards purchased by Jean-baptiste Braneyre at the end of the 18th century. In 1730, his daughter married Pierre du Luc whose name became "Duluc" during the French revolution. The actual chateau was built by his grandsons in 1824 and was given the name of their ancestors. Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien, Château Branaire stretches over 50 hectares of vines. Its soils of Quaternary alluvial gravels are known as being the warmer of the region and lead to an optimum grape ripeniss. With an average age of 35 years, these vines are remarkably old with 50 and even 100-year-old plots. Thanks to Patrick Maroteaux, its owner since 1988, the transport of the harvest is done by gravity and there is no filtration but a fining with egg whites in order to reveal top quality wines.Category | International Wines |
