The "Tonda di Scafati" is an aubergine grown in Campania.
As beautiful as it is, it is a hymn to being well, to health! Excellence Nolane has recovered this cultivar which has become one of the most appreciated and sought after by consumers.
Very early fruit variety, it is large in size, with an average weight of 400-500 grams, irregular ovoid, bright dark purple with sometimes light purple and lilac and white streaks, green calyx. The plant is medium in size and has few thorns. Very white pulp, tender and tasty.
It can be eaten stuffed, fried, baked, roasted or in countless typical recipes.
Due to its property of improving liver function, decreasing the level of cholesterol in the blood, it is called the "fruit of health". This version is put in oil according to tradition.
